Sarawally Guest House

Sarawally is a friendly, family-run guesthouse in the F Section neighbourhood of Serekunda, a short ride from the restaurants and shops of Kairaba Avenue. The rooms are simple and most share bathrooms, but free WiFi, a complimentary breakfast and a genuinely warm, locally owned welcome keep budget travellers, volunteers and returning guests coming back. Rates start at around D750 (roughly £10) a night, which is hard to beat for a clean, safe bed with air conditioning available. The setting is a quiet residential street, so you get a taste of everyday Gambian life away from the tourist strip, while still being close enough to reach Kololi's beaches and nightlife by a cheap taxi. It's not fancy, and doesn't pretend to be — but for independent travellers who value friendliness, value and a local feel over facilities, it's a reliable, likeable base.
