Le Papayer Ecolodge
Casamance eco-bungalows in the palm groves

About
Le Papayer is a small French-Senegalese-run eco-lodge tucked into the palm and mango groves of Cap Skirring, in the green Casamance. Its eight thatched bungalows are built from local materials, with solar hot water, mosquito nets and an easy, away-from-it-all feel, while the open-air restaurant turns out Senegalese plates and grilled fish, often owner-cooked. The beach — long, wild and almost empty outside the Christmas peak — is a two-minute walk through the trees, and the gardens hum with birdlife. Facilities are deliberately simple but cover what matters: WiFi, a restaurant and bar, garden, beach access and solar power throughout. It suits couples, birdwatchers and travellers who've made the effort to reach the Casamance and want somewhere relaxed and low-impact to land. For barefoot, eco-minded comfort on Senegal's best beach, it's hard to better.
